Oriana Taylor
Co-Editorial Director
Oriana is a senior majoring in Sociology and minoring in Middle East Studies. This is her second year as co-editorial director, and she is so excited to see what this year has in store for Fusayfsa’! This past summer she interned at a Jordanian-Palestinian-run think tank in Amman, Jordan. Her academic interests include differential recruitment to social movements, social change in MENA, and the Arabic language.

Jenin Abu-Hashem
Co-Editorial Director
Jenin is a junior majoring in sociology and environmental science & policy. This is her second year on the Fusayfsa team, which she originally joined to explore the complexities of the MENA region’s culture and politics. Jenin’s academic interests include cultural geography and decolonial social theory, and she enjoys writing creative pieces about growing up Arab-American.

Güneş Deniz
Communications & Design
Güneş is a senior at Smith College majoring in Sociology. Originally from Turkey, her academic interests focus on class mobility, educational inequality, and transnational labor structures in the Middle East and beyond. She is passionate to share the diverse and complex culture of the region she grow up in.

Callie Jacobson
Associate Editor & Treasurer
Callie is a senior double majoring in Government and Philosophy. Academically, she has focused on decolonial philosophy, international relations, and political development in the MENA region. In addition to Fusafysa`, she works at the Five College Women’s Studies Research Center as a research collaborator and serves as the President of the Class of 2026.

Esmé Allopena
Associate Editor
Esmé is a junior and an associate editor at Fusayfsa’. Majoring in Government, and completing a certificate in Reproductive Health, Rights, and Justice, she is interested in issues such as reproductive justice and democracy in the MENA region.

Amelia Guerin
Associate Editor
Amelia is a junior majoring in Linguistics and minoring in Arabic, with a focus on child language development and education. She spent the past summer volunteering at a refugee support center in Amman, Jordan, and plans to return to Amman in the Spring to continue studying Arabic. She is a part of the editing team at Fusayfsa, and joined the journal as a way to become more involved with the culture, politics, and history of the MENA region.

Madelyn Malgieri
Associate Editor
Madelyn is a junior double-majoring in religious studies and English literature. She particularly enjoys studying Biblical literature, mysticism in various traditions, and the philosophy of religion. In her free time, she works as a Library Research Mentor at Neilson Library, a Sunday School Teacher in downtown Northampton, and as a student liaison in the Religion Department; she is an associate editor for Fusayfsa’.

Sophia Kennedy
Associate Editor
Sophia is a first year and prospective Spanish and Middle East Studies double major. She's interested in languages, art, culture, and politics, which she hopes to explore while working with Fusayfsa'. A personal interest of Sophia's is reading literature from the MENA region in her free time, such as Sufi poetry and works by Khalil Gibran.

Lily Turner
Content Creator
Lily is a senior and a content creator at Fusayfsa'. She is double majoring in Middle East Studies and Government. Outside of Fusayfsa', Lily is a research assistant on a project pertaining to political economies in the Middle East. Her academic focuses are political Islam and political mobilization in MENA.

Nour Alhuda Farha
Content Creator
Nour is a first year student from Syria. Her major is yet to be decided but she is interested in Social justice, Psychology, and Fine Arts. She sees joining Fusayfsa’ as a way for her to embrace her culture, most importantly challenge the general perception of the region. Her favorite Lebanese artist is Hamed Sinno.
